چکیده

A 45-year-old Indian woman presented with a large pelvic mass and ascites. A preoperative diagnosis of ovarian carcinoma was made, and exploratory laparotomy was performed. Findings at surgery revealed multiple nodules on the omentum (A), peritoneum, fallopian tubes, and serosa of the uterus. A tubal biopsy was performed. Tissue examination confirmed the presence of caseating granulomas (B, C). The patient was treated for 12 months with antituberculous therapy (isonizid and rifampin) and did well. Diagnostic accuracy of adenosine deaminase for tuberculous peritonitis: a meta-analysis

INTRODUCTION Tuberculous peritonitis remains a diagnostic challenge for clinicians. Many studies have investigated the usefulness of adenosine deaminase (ADA) in ascites for the diagnosis of tuberculous peritonitis; however, the overall diagnostic accuracy of ADA for tuberculous peritonitis remains unclear. The aim of the present meta-analysis was to determine the overall accuracy of ADA measur...

Adenosine deaminase activity in the diagnosis of tuberculous peritonitis.

We studied the activity of adenosine deaminase in the peritoneal fluid of 66 patients who were divided into five groups according to causes of ascites as follows: tuberculous peritonitis (group I), septic peritonitis (group II), secondary to malignant tumours (group III), miscellaneous conditions (group IV), and control subjects of transudates (group V). In patients with tuberculous peritonitis...

Diagnostic significance of ascites adenosine deaminase levels in suspected tuberculous peritonitis in adults

Objective: There are contradictory reports about the use of adenosine deaminase (ADA) as a diagnostic marker in tuberculous peritonitis patients. Reports evaluating significance of ADA activity in the diagnosis of tuberculous peritonitis in adults are lacking in Nepal. We thus set out to investigate the ascitic fluid ADA levels in suspected tuberculous peritonitis patients and to determine the ...

Serum CA 125 is a Biomarker of Tuberculous Peritonitis and its Inflammatory Severity in Female Patients

Background: The tumor marker CA 125 is commonly used in the screening and diagnosis of ovarian malignancy. However, recent studies have proven a limited role for CA 125 as a diagnostic marker for ovarian cancer. Moreover, it is often elevated in non-cancerous and inflammatory conditions as well. Aims: To evaluate the utility of CA 125 in the workup of intestinal tuberculosis/ tuberculous perito...

Carbohydrate antigen 125 and carcinoembryonic antigen in the differentiation of tuberculous peritonitis and peritonitis carcinomatosa

Tumor markers could increase in both tuberculous peritonitis and peritonitis carcinomatosa, confusing the differentiation of these diseases. This study aimed to better understand the extent of elevation and diagnostic efficacies of carbohydrate antigen 125 (CA 125), carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) and combinative use of them in tuberculous peritonitis and peritonitis carcinomatosa. Of 2998 patie...
